The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the NEET 2025 exam date, which is May 4, 2025. The NEET mbbs 2025 application form, along with the information bulletin and notification have been released on February 7, 2025. The last date of application is March 7, 2025. The NEET 2025 application correction window will be open from March 9 to March 11, 2025. The NEET 2025 admit card will be released on or before May 1, 2025, a few days before the exam date. Prior to that, the NEET 2025 city intimation slip will be released by April 26, 2025. The NEET 2025 result will be declared by June 14, 2025.

The NEET 2025 exam pattern has changed. The optional questions have been removed. Instead of 200 questions, there will now be 180 questions, all of which are mandatory to attempt. The total duration of NEET 2025 has been reduced from 200 minutes to 180 minutes, or three hours now.

NTA made the following announcement: "Aspirants are hereby informed that the examination duration and question paper pattern will revert to the pre-COVID format, where there will no longer be any Section B." Therefore, in order to exclude any optional questions and additional time brought about by COVID, candidates will have 180 minutes to complete 180 mandatory questions (45 in physics and chemistry and 90 in biology).

NTA has verified that the NEET 2025 exam will be administered in a single day and shift using an offline, paper-pencil method. The exam's format and time have not changed from the previous year, despite rumours that the NTA may administer the NEET 2025 exam online and in phases, as suggested by the NTA Expert Committee. In the official notification dated January 16, 2025, NTA has stated, "As decided by the National Medical Commission, it is informed that the NEET (UG) 2025 shall be conducted in Pen and Paper mode (OMR based) in Single day and Single Shift.”

This year, NTA implemented the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID for the registration and examination process of NEET UG 2025. The APAAR ID is further linked with the Aadhaar Card of candidates, which will ensure transparency and efficiency. This measure has been taken in a bid to reduce malpractices in a highly competitive and major entrance exam like NEET.

NTA has stated, "Candidates are advised to update their credentials in Aadhar, preferably as per their 10th Marksheet/Passing Certificate. Also ensure your Aadhar is linked with a valid mobile number for OTP-based authentication. Aspirants are advised to ensure that their Aadhaar details (especially their name and date of birth as per 10th passing certificate), including facial recognition data, are up to date for an optimal experience during registration process and verification processes. This can be done at the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Center."

APAAR ID is not mandatory to register for NEET 2025, NTA has clarified in an official notification dated January 24, 2025. Even though use of APAAR ID is implemented by NTA for NEET UG 2025 this year onwards, and candidates are encouraged to integrate it with their Aadhaar details, it is not made mandatory, as was suggested in the notification dated January 14, 2025.

Last year, the NEET syllabus underwent major changes. Several topics from each of the three subjects were removed. On the other hand, a few topics were added to each of the subjects as well. Explaining the reason behind the change, NTA stated, “Due to the COVID-19 scenario, various School Boards deleted portions of each subject's syllabus. The deleted portion is still not being taken back by these Boards. The deletions were not uniform across various boards. Hence, a number of requests were received by the NTA for the revision of the syllabus.”
