Step-By-Step Guide To Update BIOS on Windows

How to Install BIOS Update?

Installing BIOS is quite a task, and I’ll give you a summarized way to do it since our main focus is to update it. You can start it but first, you need to know how to check BIOS Version, BIOS mode, and system model name. 

Once you have all the necessary information, open your browser and add all the information and the manufacturer of your system. You’ll be met with the link from where you can download the latest BIOS. 

However, make sure that you are not opting for any third-party site as it can contain viruses and damage your PC. So be cautious. In your file explorer, you’ll be able to see the BIOS folder. 

Steps to Update BIOS on Windows

Below are the steps that you have to follow to update your BIOS, but make sure to follow them in order. Steps to be followed:
Step 1: You will need a good power source or your device needs to be over 20% battery as the update can take time. If your computer gets turned off in between the activity, it will ruin the BIOS process.

Step 2: As mentioned earlier, you have to find your downloaded BIOS file and extract it. In some devices, the “unzip” option is applicable.  Double-click the file and extract it. Once done, open the extracted file. 

Step 3: If you are unable to under the process, you can read the README document which will give you how to do it. And regardless, you should go through it because the BIOS update method is different on several devices.

Step 4: Now, you have to access the BIOS page. To do that, you must restart your device and start pressing the (F12) key. In some devices, the  (Esc) or (Del) key is used to access the page. If you are unable to get hold of it, restart your device and try again. Or look online which key is applicable in your system.

Step 5: When you are on the BIOS page, and you see any option like save or backup, click on it so that your previous BIOS data will be saved. This feature is not present in all devices. And it’s important because if your latest BIOS didn't align with your device, you can switch back to the old one.

Step 6: After the backup, you need to use the BIOS update tool. To know more about it, you should visit the BIOS manufacturer support site to get a proper explanation of how to do it. Normally, you select the Boot tab and ensure that the USB flash drive is visible. 
If you are met with any “Flash” or backup option, enable it right away. Once that's done, go to “Advanced Options” and select “Start Flash.” 

Step 7: You are all set, now just sit back and relax. It can take a few minutes to up to an hour depending on the BIOS update. So, don't turn off your system. Once it’s done, it will restart automatically.
