What is Apple Intelligence?

This feature integrates with Messages, Notes, and Freeform, allowing users to add visual flair to conversations or documents.
Genmoji
Genmoji takes emoji customization to the next level. By typing a description, users can create personalized emoji characters—for example, “a cat wearing a pirate hat.” These Genmoji are generated on the fly and can be used in Messages and other supported apps.
Siri with On-Device Intelligence
Siri benefits from Apple Intelligence with richer language understanding, contextual awareness, and the ability to tap into on-device data. Users can ask Siri to find specific photos, recall messages, or perform tasks across apps—such as “Show me the photo from last week’s dinner with Sarah” or “Send the file I was working on to Mike.” Siri now also works with on-screen awareness, understanding what apps or content the user is viewing.

Apple Intelligence is built with privacy as a fundamental principle. The vast majority of processing happens on-device, using Apple’s own silicon—A17 Pro and M-series chips. For tasks that require more power, Apple introduces Private Cloud Compute (PCC), which runs on dedicated Apple servers built with custom silicon and operating systems. Data never touches Apple’s main servers and is used only for processing the user’s request; it is not stored or accessible to Apple.
